English: Carcharodontosaurus is a genus of large theropod dinosaur that existed during the Late Cretaceous in Northern Africa. Carcharodontosaurus was one of the longest and heaviest known carnivorous dinosaurs, with an enormous 1.5 m skull and long, serrated teeth up to 20 cm long. It reached about 12 m in length and weighed 6 t in body mass. The genus Carcharodontosaurus is named after the shark genus Carcharodon, itself composed of the Greek karchar, meaning "jagged" and odon, "teeth.”
