English: Carbon dioxide isotherms (CO ). The pressure is vertical, the volume horizontal. Well above the critical temperature (31 C) the isotherms follow Boyle's law, below it they run a bit horizontally when the volume is reduced and condensation occurs. The dotted line indicates the area where liquid and vapor coexist (coexisting phases). (Caption from the source.)
