This Print representing the sinking of His Majesty's Sloop ARROW after a gallant resistance, and the ACHERON leading away L'HORTENSE in a direction from the Convoy, at ½ past eight on the morning of the 4,,th of Feb,,y 1805, off Cape Palos, at which time the Merchantmen were at a considerable distance effecting their escape, which was happily accomplished. Is (by Permission) most humbly Dedicated, by his most obliged humble Servant, George Andrews.
Description
English: A view of the sinking of H.M. sloop Arrow by the French off Cape Palos on 5 February 1805. Napoleonic Wars (1803-15)

The captain of the bomb vessel H.M.S. Acheron was Arthur (later Sir Arthur, and Rear-Admiral) Farquhar (1772-1843). The Acheron and the Arrow were, under Farquhar's command, in charge of a convoy, but were captured, after a strenuous defence, by the two larger French frigates Incorruptible and Hortense. Court martialled after the action, Farqhar was honourably acquitted.
