Summary

Description

Stephen of Hoyland and three demons. "Vexatus Demonia" The story is documented by Benedict of Peterborough - Stephen was subject to feeling suffocated in his sleep which he attributed to a demon. The Demon appeared on three occasions, lastly as a"bird" flying down at him. He asked his servant to wake him when he cried out in his sleep. Most of the heads are modern, and there is an interesting theory that a second servant was present behind the right hand demon.

The panel has recently been researched by Rachel Koopmans, published in Vidimus.
