Description
English: Canadian dead were buried in many small military plots behind the lines. These soldiers were all members of the 14th Battalion, killed over several days in May 1916.

These men are found in the Railway Dugouts Burial Ground (Transport Farm) Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery and that the photo may represent the patchwork layout of graves that swelled around the advanced dressing stations that were located in the railway embankment there.

The graves in the present day cemetery are in the exact same configuration as in the photo (Pte. Portelance in VI. G. 29, Pte. Laurent in G. 31, Pte. Littlejohn in G. 32, Pte. Mcburney in G. 33 and Lt. McCoy behind them in H. 41).
