English: Cambuskenneth Abbey Built by King David 1st of Scotland about 1140 this abbey was the scene of Scottish historical events from the 12th to 16th centuries as it was so near Stirling. King Robert the Bruce held parliament here in 1326. There were few monks here by 1559 and the abbey was reduced to knee high ruins. The 13th century campanile tower is the only intact part.
