Description
English: Bust portrait of a man. "Col. Caleb Dorsey" (written below image). "Col. Caleb Dorsey Pike Co. Mo. Edward Dorsey's son from Pike County Gift of Mrs. John Dorsey Ewing, Stockton, Cal." (written on reverse side of image). Col. Dorsey commanded a regiment of Confederate soldiers at a battle near Mt. Zion Church in Boone County, Missouri. On Dec. 28, 1861 his forces were routed by less than 500 Union mounted troops and sharpshooters.
