DescriptionCaldragh Graveyard 2014 08 29.jpg |
Caldragh, County Roscommon, Ireland
English: View of Caldragh Graveyard as seen when coming from the road, looking north-east. This was the site of a Third Order Franciscan community who before 1487 took over the previous site of Ceall Braighe Uallaighe. The friary was dissolved c. 1582. There are no visible remains today of a previous church in the graveyard. See Gwynn and Hadcock: Medieval Religious Houses Ireland, p. 269, and corresponding entry of this site at archaeology.ie by Michael Moore. |
