From a plaque posted on the building: "CALAIS TOWN HALL. The Calias Christian Church building, erected in 1866, was also known as the Davis Church for Rev. Orin Davis who served as pastor from 1851-1897. Calais town meetings have been held here since 1868. Sign erected by the Calias Historical Society in memory of Kenneth Fowler Jr. 1938-1985."
