Summary

Description

C&O coal trains heading north from Columbus, Ohio added a helper engine for the upgrade to Delaware County. North of Powell, they uncoupled the engine and turned around at a Y before heading back downhill .I took this shot at Linworth in May 1941 using Plus X film in a Super Ikonta A.

In the summer of 1946 I took a flying course at OSU's Don Scott Field. Flying a 1938 Taylorcraft, my practice area was centered over the C&O Y. I used to enjoy watching the steam engines.
