The original print (UK National Archives) has handwritten notes in pencil:
The Yang di Pertuan of Negri Sembilan (placed in the centre), Dato of Tampin (placed below left), and Yam Tuan Muda (placed below right).
It is likely that the young man seated on the left of Tuanku Muhammad is his brother, Tunku Besar Burhanuddin who would then have been addressed as Yam Tuan Muda (then about 19 years of age).
