DescriptionByfield railway station 1958121 189b6c81.jpg
English: Byfield Station (remains).
View westward, towards Towcester and Stratford-on-Avon; ex-Stratford-on-Avon & Midland Junction line, Broom Junction - Straatford-on-Avon - Towcester - Blisworth/Ravenstone Wood Junction, also Byfield - Woodford Halse (Woodford & Hinton, ex-Great Central). Byfield station had been closed to passengers on 7/4/52 when the Blisworth - Stratford-on-Avon service ceased; until 5/48 a service had run Byfield - Woodford Halse. Freight traffic east of Towcester ceased on 22/6/58, but goods continued Woodford Halse - Byfield until 4/5/64, as evidenced by the engine with brake-vans in this 1963 picture.
