Description
English: Currently held in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, this Japanese scroll is illustrated in the style of Jigoku Zoshi. Originally drawn during the Heian period in the 12th century depicting the 8 great hells and the 16 lesser hells in both text and painting.The specific fragment of the scroll being shown shows a demon stirring a heated cauldron full of people in the Hell of Many Copper Cauldrons.
