Am 30.11.1952 fand in Frankfurt am Main die Gründungsversammlung der "Gesamtdeutschen Volkspartei" statt.

UBz: Die Bonner Bundestagsabgeordnete Helene Wessel, früher Vorsitzende der Deutschen Zentrumspartei erklärte auf der Gründungsversammlung: "Der Generalvertrag vertieft nicht nur die Spaltung Deutschlands, sondern auch die Europas. Denn die Ostpolitik hatte für das deutsche Volk seit je schicksalhafte Bedeutung. Wir müssen deshalb eine eigenständige deutsche Ostpolitik fordern, die uns durch den Generalvertrag verwehrt werden soll. Wir wollen nicht Feindschaft, sondern Freundschaft."
