Summary

Description The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society building, in Buffalo, New York. It was built to be the New York State Pavilion for the 1901 Pan-American Exposition, and is the only permanent building from the expo. Designed by architect George Cary, it originally had a blank pediment. The Vermont white marble pedimental sculpture, based on that of the Parthenon, was created by sculptor Edmond Amateis and added to the building in 1930.[1] The seated Abraham Lincoln statue in front of the portico is by Charles Henry Niehaus.
