Object history William Henry Cavendish Cavendish-Scott-Bentinck, 4th Duke of Portland (1768-1854), by 1831, when mentioned under the date 11 July 1831 in 'Memorandum Book F' by his wife Henrietta, Duchess of Portland, as a 'Picture of a Burlesque subject by P. Brughell', and by descent at Welbeck, where recorded by Dr. Waagen in the Entrance Hall (1857), in the 1861 inventory (no. 461), and by Charles Fairfax Murray on the west wall of the Underground Gallery (1894).
