Summary

Description A Chinese bronze gaming vessel (tou hu) with incised decorations, from the Western Han Dynasty, c. 150–50 BC. This vessel was used during festivities when guests would attempt to throw darts down its narrow neck. This bronze is unusual amongst others of its era, in that its designs and its incised decorations imitate ash-glazed Chinese stoneware vessels.
