It is also unknown when exactly the flag first came into use, but this is believed to be the original variant produced in 1910 when South Africa was granted the depicted coat of arms. Australia's coat of arms as depicted was used until 1912. The Canadian coat of arms is the conderations's original coat of arms used until 1870.
