Brihadisvara Temple, Thanjavur, state of Tamil Nadu, India.
The Temple was built by Tamil king Raja Raja Chola in 1010 AD. Built out of granite, the vimana tower above the sanctum is one of the tallest in South India - 63.4 metres (208 ft) high. On top of vimana tower there is a sikhara, a cupolic dome (25 tons), is octagonal and rests on a single block of granite, weighing 80 tons.
