English: Brecon Engine Shed.
View SW, towards (on right) Brecon station and Neath; shared between ex-Brecon & Merthyr, ex-Cambrian and ex-Neath & Brecon lines (all later Great Western), also with ex-Midland (Hereford, Hay & Brecon section) line. Coded 89B under BR, its allocation was only 11 GW locomotives in 1950, consisting of 0-6-0s and 0-6-0Ts that worked the cross-country lines through the mountains; ex-Midland and ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire 0-6-0s worked in from Hereford. In the final years, LMS-type Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0s were allocated and worked alongside GW 22XX 0-6-0s; one of each is seen in this 1962 photograph. The Shed was closed when all the services were withdrawn from Brecon on 31/12/62.
