Summary

Description
English: Brazenose Gate In 1333, dissatisfied Oxford scholars set up a rival University at Stamford, including a rival Brazenose Hall. This gate on St.Paul's Street is all that remains of the rival University hall as the breakaway students were disbanded on the order of King Edward III. Until the end of the 19th century, Oxford graduates were required to pledge not to teach in Stamford.
