DescriptionBound Rock (Hampton, New Hampshire).jpg
This large boulder originally indicated the start of the line surveyed by Capt. Nicholas Shapley c. 1657 to determine the boundary of Hampton, New Hampshire. Bound Rock was originally located in the middle of the Hampton River. Due to changes in the river's course, it was lost for many years until being rediscovered in the 1930s. The State of New Hampshire enclosed Bound Rock in 1937.
