English: Boltby Scar Views. The view north from Boltby Scar with Town's Pasture wood to the left and High Barn just above middle centre. Boltby Scar has the scanty remains of an Iron Age fort (a grass-covered mound and ditch). There is also a "windypit" out in the fields - a fissure in the limestone that usually leads to a small cavern or pit. These were used by the Beaker people (about 2000 BC) as temporary winter homes and burial pits. The image is taken from " Hillfort Windypit"
