English: The Malabar woodshrike (Tephrodornis sylvicola) belongs to the family of woodshrikes, philentomas and flycatcher-shrikes, Tephrodornithidae. This woodshrike species is sometimes considered a subspecies of the Large woodshrike (Tephrodornis virgatus). The Malabar woodshrike is a monotypic species, and is endemic to India. The natural habitats frequented by this species include tropical and subtropical moist lowland forests, clearings in evergreen forests, tropical and subtropical dry forests and tropical and subtropical moist shrublands.
