Travail personnel. Les armoiries de Ste-Geneviève-des-Bois sont l'oeuvre de Louis Mourgeon, auteur d'une monographie historique qui en présenta le projet en avril 1943 au conseil municipal. La publication au recueil des armoiries de Seine-et-Oise (ancien département) n'intervint qu'en 1959.

Les armoiries de Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois sont composés d'un blason d'une part et d'un ornement extérieur qui le timbre d'une couronne murale d'or à trois tours crénelées. Le blason est à lui seul une synthèse historique de la ville. Il comprend l'effigie de sainte Geneviève, éponyme de la ville, priant les mains jointes et tenant une quenouille. La sainte est enfermée dans une tour d'or, symbolisant l'ancien château, et plus particulièrement le Donjon, toujours debout, avec ses tourelles, et son toit terminé par un lanterneau ajouté au 17e siècle ; les fleurs de lys qui l'encadrent rappellent les séjours fréquents qu'y firent les rois de France, Louis XIII et Louis XIV notamment.
