Description	Image of Blanca Canales. The image is of Blanca Canales who was one of the Puerto Rican militants of the Nationalist Party. helped organize the Daughters of Freedom, the women's branch of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party. As a leader of the Nationalist party in Jayuya, she stored arms in her house, which were used in a revolt in 1950 against United States rule over the island. During the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party Revolts of the 1950s she led members in the Jayuya Uprising, in which Nationalists took control of the town for three days.

In accordance to the "Copyright Term and the Public Domain in the United States, 1 January 2009" [1] Images published with notice but whose copyright was not renewed from 1923 through 1963 are public domain due to copyright expiration. "El Imparcial" could not have renewed it's copyright which expired. Therefore, since Puerto Rico fell under US copyright in 1936 as well as today, this would make the Blanca Canales image public domain. Claimed as fair use regardless.
