English: This Black Walnut tree was struck by lightning at 11:30 PM (CST) on 4-23-2022. The “thunderous” sound abruptly woke me up from a sound sleep. I immediately noted the time on my clock. The following morning is when I discovered that the tree across the street from where I currently live was the unfortunate object of that clash with “Mother Nature.” The lightning strike runs from the top of the tree down into the root system. Ironically, I uploaded a photo of this tree to Wikipedia in the fall of 2021. At the time, I was highlighting the abundance of walnuts on its branches. Shortly after taking that picture in the fall, this tree experienced and survived an F1 tornado.
