Summary

Description
English: Report on ballot scanners in Maryland in 2016 showed that dirt or scratches on sensors created spurious black lines on some ballots, which appeared to be a vote for each candidate the line went past, thus voting for too many candidates and disenfranchising those voters. https://www.eac.gov/sites/default/files/event_document/files/day1-2017-02-13-09_15-03-natasha-Post-Election-Audits-final.pdf
