English: Beltona phonograph, photographed in home in Uptown New Orleans, early 1990s. Looks to be a mid/late 1920s model. Beltona record on the turntable.
British brand; I don't think it was marketed in the US at the time. Don't know how it got to New Orleans; I'd guess that it was part of one of the shipping containers brought over from the UK to New Orleans in the 1980s by New Orleans used furniture dealers - as there was much hardwood used furniture in the UK that was considered outdated but in styles still popular in New Orleans. |
