Description
English: c/n 20172

Built as an AH-1G-BF with the US military serial 67-15508. Later converted to AH-1F standard. Flew 2,100 combat hours in Vietnam between 1968 and 1971. On 15th August 1971, Captain Allen Butler used this helicopter to hold off enemy forces attempting to overrun South Vietnamese Marines, an action for which he received the Silver Star. It later saw action in Somalia during 1993-1994 as part of Task Force Raven. Seen on display in the Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center as part of the National Air and Space Museum. Washington Dulles International Airport, Chantilly, Virginia
