Summary

Description
English: When power is applied, the actuator rotates (slowly) to the "open" position. If power fails, it automatically returns to the "closed" position. This is primarily meant for HVAC dampers, though this particular unit was used on the fire damper of a pellet boiler.
It failed after an estimated 250000 fail-safe cycles across ~16 years of operation (specified service life is 60000 fail-safe cycles), at which point it failed to reliably open (motor stalled before reaching the limit switch) as well as fail-safe closed, i.e. the damper remained open, which permitted air into the stoker channel and subsequent burn-down of the wood pellets inside the stoker screw.
