English: Beighton Junction 1891 (ie the 1891 junction where the MSLR "Derbyshire Lines" left the MSLR Beighton Branch, immediately south of Rotherham Road, Beighton) heading north on 27 November 1977 when trains between Chesterfield and Sheffield were diverted because of engineering work. This image was taken a few seconds after BeightonJunction1891 19771127 Northbound1 from the other side of the carriage. Cars waiting at Rotherham Road level crossing can be seen, as can the embankment carrying the MSLR Sheffield-Worksop main line on the horizon. The erstwhile GCR "Up" (southbound) line can be seen running under the third and fourth carriages, the line crossing near the photographer led to sidings. The leftmost arm of the signals used to control the Up main line and was therefore the highest. After the main line closed it was downgraded and the home signal was lowered to the position of the erstwhile distant arm., though the upright remained the highest, as can be seen. Beighton Station signalbox outlived Beighton Station by many years, the station had been immediately beyond the 'box as we look at it in this view.
