This text image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.
It is recommended to name the SVG file “Baudot Code - from 1888 patent.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.

English: Page 6 of 11 from patent US 388244 A (1888)
excerpt:
Patented in France January 6, 1882. No. 146,716
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JEAN MAURICE EMILE BAUDOT, a citizen of the French Republic, and a resident of Paris, France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Telegraph Printing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification. ... Fig. 24 is a chart showing the various combinations of the manipulator corresponding to the different letters or characters to be printed. ... To clearly perceive the action of the system, let us suppose that the operator has pressed the keys 2, 4, and 5 in order to transmit the signals, the combination of which should form the letter M, as shown by the chart, Fig. 24.
