English: The map is from Plate CXXXV-B, No. 3, from the Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies. It shows the Battle of White Sulphur Springs, which occurred on August 26-27, 1863, in the American Civil War. The Union brigade commanded by Br. Gen. William W. Averell was stopped by a Confederate force commanded by Col. George Patton.
