Description
English: The regulator aims to maintain the desired state(s) of some essential variable in the face of disturbances, by measuring the essential variable (blue arrow), comparing the value to a desired reference (red arrow) and using the difference as a basis for modifying the environment. High-level diagram broadly based on material in W. Ross Ashby, "An introduction to cybernetics", Chapman & Hall, London, 1956.
