English: Micrograph of Barrett's esophagus (high magnification). Alican blue stain. The (simple columnar) metaplasic epithelium of Barrett's esophagus is characterized by goblet cells, which stain blue with alcian blue. Barrett's is associated with an increased risk of adenocarcinoma.
