View southward, towards Caerphilly and Cardiff on the former Rhymney Railway. Behind the camera, the former Bargoed & Pant section of the former Brecon & Merthyr Railway joined from the Dowlais direction. This was closed on 5/8/63, the passenger service Newport - Brecon over that line having ceased on 31/12/62. Comparisons with the present-day Bargoed Station are remarkable for the changes due to abandonment of the Coal Industry.
