English: Barahakshetra of Sunsari district is very famous. This shrine is located at a distance of 30 km from Dharan via West Chatra. This Barah temple is considered to be 5,000 years old. The main idol is covered with poplar leaves as a garment. The nature of Barahachetra described in the Puranas seems to be similar to the confluence of Koka and Kaushiki. In this place there is a stone statue of the masculine god carrying the earth. There are idols of Bishnupaduka and earth carrying as well as ponds and streams. It is also called Sukar area, Patriarchal area, Kokamukh area. The statue is believed to date back to the 13th century.
The 22-foot-high dome-style temple is built by Chunsurki in the style of a stone on the river bank in the Koshiki area. There are many other temples in this area. The black stone idol in the middle of this temple is the idol of Lord Barah. There are various other idols of gods near this idol. The Baraha temple is associated with the Baraha incarnation of Lord Narayan, located on the banks of the Koka River, which flows from the east to the Koka River and from the north to the Koshi River. There are idols of Dharamsala, Nageshwar Barah, Gurubarah, Shweta Barah, Badi Mukteshwar, Surya Barah, Koka Barah, Indrabarah, Gayatri Ashram, Saraswati, Ganesh and Narayan in this complex. The Dobhan near the temple is called Koka Koshi Dobhan. Koka is considered a very sacred pilgrimage. There is a belief that if you bathe, donate, donate pinda dan, tarpana etc. in this holy confluence place, you will get great merit. From a religious point of view, this Barahachetra is very famous and important. |
