English: Arms of Bampfield (Or, on a bend gules three mullets argent) impaling Clifton (Argent semée of cinquefoils pierced gules, a lion rampant of the second), representing the marriage of Sir Amyas Bampfylde (1560-1626) of Poltimore and North Molton in Devon, Member of Parliament for Devon in 1597, and Elizabeth Clifton, daughter of Sir John Clifton of Barrington Court, Somerset. Detail from monument to Sir Amyas Bampfylde in All Saints' Church, North Molton. The correct arms for Clifton of Barrington Court are the arms of Clifton of Clifton Hall, Nottingham (Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold (1608) and Clifton Baronets (1611)): Sable semée of cinquefoils and a lion rampant argent. The 1st Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold sold Barrington Court in 1605 (Victoria County History)
