With hinged finial to insert a molinet or swizzle stick to stir the thick chocolate. With delicate pierced sheet or cutcard work.
Everard Fawkener, a diplomat, spent nearly �2,000 on a dinner service in 1735, including a chocolate pot for �20 18s. The handle is replaced.
