This image is not of the species now understood as Sparganium androcladum. Beal (1960) documented the confused nomenclatural history of this plant and indicated that this image is a robust form of Sparganium americanum and that the actual S. androcladum is shown in Britton & Brown (1913) as Sparganium lucidum.
