This infrared jammer played an important role in the development of modern jamming systems for deflecting heat seeking missiles from targeting aircraft. Developed during the Vietnam War after the devastating appearance of Soviet shoulder-launched SA-7 missiles, the “hot brick” showed that infrared missile guidance could be disrupted.
