1944. (Constituted as the 380th Fighter Squadron (Single Engine) on 11 February 1943, Redesignated 160th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron on 25 August 1944).
Deutsch: Die North American P-51D Mustang 'A9-A' (s/n 44-13309), nickname Fools Paradise IV des Major Evan McCall, 380th Fighter Squadron, 363rd Fighter Group im August 1944 auf dem Flugplatz Azeville, Normandie, Frankreich. Die 380th FS war am 25. August 1944 in eine taktische Aufklärungsstaffel umgeformt, und in 160th TRS (Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron) umbenannt worden. Es wurden weiterhin P-51 Mustang Jagdflugzeuge, aber auch mit Kameras ausgerüstete F-6 (P-51) Mustang Foto-Aufklärer eingesetzt. Ab dem 16. April 1945 verlegte die 160th TRS auf folgende Flugplätze der ehemaligen dt. Luftwaffe im Westen und Süden Deutschlands:
Am 22.11.1945 wird die 160th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron nach Giebelstadt Airfield verlegt, diese bleibt nur bis 23.11.1945 auf dem Platz, Siehe "Giebelstadt und sein Flugplatz 1945-1955", Seite 71, von Robert Popp, 1. Auflage August 2021 im Eigenverlag (keine ISBN). |
