English: Located in PhakHai district, Ayutthaya province, Ladchado market is over a hundred years old. It is an area of conservation of the district and was awarded for outstanding architecture conservation in 2006. The market started from selling of a raft by the local and developed to be a market by the Noi river. Visitors to the market can enjoy grocery stores, old structures, and a film in a theatre with no charge.
Ladchado community was called Ban Chakkarach but as there were a lot of Chado fish (Giant snakehead fish) so people call it Ladchado instead. On Asalha Puja Day, there will be an annual spectacular candle procession along the Ladchado canal. The ceremony features a parade of over a hundred cruising boats exquisitely decorated with candles and a wide choice of entertainment at night. It is considered “The only waterborne candle procession festival in the world”.
