In this cartoon, outer-arm dyneins are shown with three heavy chains ("heads") and inner-arm dyneins are shown with two. Such is the case with organisms such as the genusChlamydomonas. Other forms exist, such as the sea urchinspermflagellum, in which both inner- and outer-arm dyneins have two heavy chains.
