Summary

Description Axel rover is the proposed vehicle of the Moon Diver mission to the Moon, intended to investigate the exposed geological layers on the walls of a deep lunar pit. The rover would remain attached to the lander through a 300 m tether and rappel down a lunar pit called Tranquillitatis Pit, located in Mare Tranquillitatis. The mission concept was proposed to NASA's Discovery Program in 2019 to compete for funding and launch.
