Summary

Description This is the Austroboletus mutabilis bolete fungus which was only first identified in 2006 by mycologists. This species is native to North Queensland, Australia, and has a cap of up to 8 to 9 centimetres. No other Bolete goes through a dramatic colour change from red to orange & finally yellow. This particular specimen was photographed at the Tablelands Region in Far North Queensland, Australia by Ray Palmer.
