Removing the plug opens the contacts in the socket to provide the same level of safety as a conventional switched socket when switched off. Automatically switched socket outlets are most commonly used to supply power to refrigerators, some computers and other accessories that normally should not be switched off. The absence of a switch prevents the accidental switching off of such devices. |
