Description
Deutsch: Der dänische Astronom August William Doberck (1852–1941) am Refraktor von Schloss Markree in der irischen Grafschaft Sligo. Dessen seinerzeit weltgrößtes Objektiv mit 33,8 cm (13,3 Zoll) Öffnung war 1831 vom Franzosen Robert-Aglaé Cauchoix (1776–1845) für Edward Joshua Cooper (1798–1863) hergestellt worden. Das benötigte Flintglas stammte vom Schweizer Pierre-Louis Guinand (1748–1824). Das 7,6 m (25 Fuß) lange Teleskop war in einem offenem Gebäude auf einer Pyramide aus schwarzem Marmor montiert.
