Summary

Description
English: outside the Co-op. There is a plaque attached to the railings explaining its significance. The artist is Michael Disley. The sculpture's figures, an adult and a child wear hats to signify Atherstone's past place in the hattingand felting industry. The child stands on apile of books to signify the town's place as a centre of learning since the 16th century and the recent booktown initiative. Carvings on the plinth depict items of cultural significance suggested by the local population
